Your Funnel Is Slow (And Leaking Revenue) Before It Even Starts Loading. Here's the Part You Can Actually Fix.
Ready for a weird acronym?
TTFB. Time to First Byte.
It's the gap between your visitor's browser sending a request and your server sending back the first byte of your page. Everything -- LCP, FCP, CLS, all of it -- starts its clock after TTFB clears.
A slow TTFB means every downstream metric starts late. You can optimize your images, preload your fonts, clean up your JavaScript.. and still fail Core Web Vitals because the server was slow to respond.
It's the invisible tax upstream of everything else.

Here's the honest part.
If you're on ClickFunnels, Kajabi, Kartra, GoHighLevel, Shopify -- any managed platform where you're not writing a custom app and controlling your own infrastructure -- your server response time is not yours to tune.
The platform owns the servers. The platform manages the caching layer. The platform controls the data center and the CDN configuration.
That's the tradeoff you made for not having to hire a DevOps engineer. It's a reasonable tradeoff. But it means TTFB optimization articles telling you to "enable server-side caching" and "optimize your database queries" are written for someone else.
So what CAN you control?
Your redirect chain.

Here's what a typical funnel URL chain looks like in the wild:
Your ad fires to a tracking URL.. which redirects to your custom domain on http.. which redirects to https.. which redirects from non-www to www.. which finally lands on your page.
That's three to four round trips before your visitor sees a single pixel. Every hop is a full DNS lookup, a connection handshake, a server response. Each one adds 50-200ms of latency.
Three hops at 150ms each is 450ms of dead time before your page starts loading. Before your LCP clock starts. Before your FCP has a chance.
On desktop with a fast connection, that's annoying. On mobile cellular, it's a bounce.
And here's what makes it worse.
A 32% bounce rate increase has been measured for every 2-second delay in page load. Your redirect chain might be contributing half a second to a second of that before your page even responds. That's not a design problem. That's not a copy problem. That's plumbing.
What to check:
Paste your ad destination URL into a redirect checker. Count the hops. Healthy is 0-2. Three is degraded. Four or more and you're handing free latency to every visitor before they've seen your headline.
Common culprits:
Tracking URL that redirects to your custom domain
http not pointing directly to https on your custom domain
www and non-www both resolving but chaining instead of canonicalizing
Old split test URLs that were never cleaned up and still redirect
Clean the chain and the latency disappears. Not a developer job. Not a platform limitation. Completely within your control today.
After the fix:
Your visitor's browser fires the request. It lands on your page in one or two hops instead of four. TTFB is still what your platform gives you -- but your total load sequence is 300-600ms shorter than it was this morning.
That's LCP starting sooner. FCP hitting faster. The blank screen your visitor stares at gets shorter without touching a single image or script.
